Columbus Eagles FC goes on the road Sunday to play Steel City FC in the club’s final WPSL match of the 2018 season. The Eagles are playing to improve further on the club records they’ve already set for wins (4) and points (14) in a single league season. Kickoff from the Ellis School near downtown Pittsburgh, Pa., is scheduled for 4 p.m. There will be no live stream of the match but you can follow along with the action on the Eagles’ Twitter page and here on the club’s website.

Last time out, the Eagles extended their scoreless streak to 196 minutes with a 3-0 win over Indy Saints FC of Indianapolis, Ind. on Saturday. Amber Kern, Lila Remache, and Lisa Nouanesengsy all scored for Columbus, which sits third in the Valley division.

The Eagles can finish with as many as 17 points and as high as second place – both would be club records – with a win over Steel City. Cleveland Ambassadors have already won the Valley division with a 7-0-1 record and 22 points. The Eagles were the only team to take points from Cleveland this season after a three-goal comeback in May.

The Eagles are the only team capable of finishing with 17 points, so a win would leave Columbus all alone in second place.

Sunday’s meeting will be the first between Columbus and Steel City FC. The Eagles will reveal their traveling roster shortly before the match and the starting lineup will be revealed an hour before kickoff.
