Columbus Eagles FC is thrilled to announce the hiring of Jeff Schaffer as the club’s first Video Director. The broadcast sports reporter and anchor joins the Eagles for the 2018 season, the club’s fifth WPSL campaign.

Schaffer graduated from Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism in 2009, where he was the play-by-play host of Ohio University’s men’s hockey team and a sports reporter at the WOUB Center for Public Media in Athens, Ohio. He went on to work in broadcast news in and Alpena, Mich., and Tyler, Tex., producing covering local high school, college, and professional sports.

Schaffer will run EagleTV’s’ expanded video division, which aims to tell stories, promote team events and matches. The expanded video content will connect Columbus soccer fans with the players and staff of the city’s women’s soccer club. The content he and the rest of the video department creates will live on the club’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube pages, as well as the team website here at ColumbusEaglesFC.com.

Also, EagleTV will broadcast at least six of the club’s matches in 2018, starting with the home preseason opener against Mount Vernon Nazarene University on April 14 at Otterbein University. That match comes a week after the preseason opener on April 7 at Ohio Wesleyan University.

The club’s fifth WPSL season kicks off May 12 at home against Ann Arbor FC. Tickets are on sale for all those matches now, and you can still get a club membership – of which the team has already sold a record number – starting at $25!
