COLUMBUS, OHIO, FEBRUARY 2022 – In its 24th season, the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) is the oldest active women’s soccer league in the U.S.
In our own backyard, we have Columbus Eagles FC, which has been around since 2014.
Mark Wise, the owner of Eagles, announced today that Fire & Ice Heating and Air Conditioning is joining the team as a sponsor for 2022.
“We are so excited to have Fire & Ice Heating and Air conditioning join us as a sponsor for 2022. They are showing their support for local soccer, and particularly women’s soccer in Columbus and we salute that. They are a quality company with quality products and we are proud to call them the ‘Official HVAC Partner of the Columbus Eagles FC’”.
Fire & Ice owner Scott Merritt said, “In the past year, we’ve been proud to sponsor the Columbus Clippers and Ohio State Athletics. This Eagles partnership is an extension of that same community spirit. We look forward to promoting their message of teamwork, unity, and women’s sports in general.”
Though the WPSL is one of the world’s largest and oldest women’s soccer leagues, with more than 140 clubs from coast to coast in 35 states. Rosters feature elite collegiate, post-collegiate, international, and standout prep student-athletes.
Many of the United States’ most accomplished women’s players have played in the WPSL, including household names such as Alex Morgan, Abby Wambach, Megan Rapinoe, Julie Foudy, and Brandi Chastain.
The Eagles FC plays teams from Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Dayton, Cincinnati, and Indianapolis.
The Eagles bring the highest level of women’s soccer to central Ohio, providing a forum for talented players to display their abilities on the field and provide affordable, enjoyable game-day experiences for our soccer family. The club has continuously grown in strength and fans.
Wise said, “The Eagles have ambitious goals, and to reach those goals we need to have local support from our business partners. (Fire & Ice) brings not only cash resources into the club, but these sorts of strategic partners help promote and grow the idea of women’s soccer in Columbus.”
Part of the Eagles’ goal is to be associated with soccer fans who believe in the power of coming together to reach common goals, in its ability to empower and inspire young girls and boys to reach for their dreams, on and off the pitch.
Merritt added, “The Columbus Eagles show young women that you can continue to do the things that you love even beyond the high school or collegiate level. Teamwork is a big part of what we do, and it is a big part of what the Columbus Eagles represent.”
Fire & Ice is an HVAC company in the Columbus area that focuses on providing all aspects of residential heating and air conditioning equipment.
