After showing her athletic prowess in net for the Eagles in 2017, former Columbus Eagles FC goalkeeper Shauni Kerkhoff successfully ran the Boston Marathon on Monday. Kerkhoff qualified for the marathon in spring of 2017, and in less-than-ideal conditions on Monday, Kerkhoff finished the marathon in 3:34:09 at a pace of 8:10 per mile.

Kerkhoff, a Temple University graduate, played for the Eagles as a goalkeeper in 2017. She started last year’s Eagles season in great fashion. She allowed just two goals in her five appearances for the club and helped Columbus secure its best-ever WPSL finish. Kerkhoff also provided one of the moments of the season when she stopped a penalty against Ambassadors Cleveland and kept a 1-1 draw intact.

After she left the Eagles, Kerkhoff trained and graduated from the police officer training academy with the United States Capital Police. She now lives and works in the Washington, D.C., area.

Columbus Eagles FC is thrilled to have had such an incredible individual represent our club and go on to do great things. All of us with the Eagles would like to extend our congratulations to Shauni on her tremendous achievement!
