Update: Match Against MVNU Canceled Due to Weather, Travel Issues

10:00 a.m. Saturday – An update: Saturday night’s friendly match against Mount Vernon Nazarene University has been canceled due to impending weather and the Cougars having travel issues. Columbus Eagles FC sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience – it’s the first time the club has ever had to cancel a match outright. 

Any fan who bought a ticket for the match will be able to use that ticket at any Eagles home match for the rest of the 2018 season. Our next home match is Sunday, April 22, at Ohio Dominican University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Columbus Eagles FC is back in action Saturday and has announced its 21-woman roster for its friendly against Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Tickets are $10 at the gate and are also available online here.

The roster includes all 10 outfield players from the club’s preseason-opening win over Ohio Wesleyan University. Ellie Gavin and Lisa Nouanesengsy – each of whom scored twice in the win over OWU – will be in action Saturday. In the Eagles roster for the first time are Ashley Gogolin, Megan Minnix, Kenda Nixon, and goalkeeper Maddy Ireton, all of whom are from the Columbus, Ohio, area.

Also, defenders Corie Moore and Kate Prewitt – key parts of the club’s record-setting defense in 2017 – return to the Eagles lineup.

The full matchday roster is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Maddy Ireton, Madi Moore

Defenders: Deidre Abouahmed, Summer Bourcier, Monique Hanayik, Amber Kern, Megan Minnix, Corie Moore, Kate Prewitt

Midfielders: Alexa Cheripko, Kelly DeNiro, Ellie Gavin, Ashley Gogolin, Larissa Najjar, Lisa Nouanesengsy, Micaela Powers, Lila Remache, Christy Zwolski

Forwards: Dani Gunderson, Rachel MacLeod, Kenda Nixon

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday at Otterbein University’s Memorial Stadium, the Eagles’ home field since 2017. Single-match tickets are $10 at the gate and here onlineParking at Otterbein is free in the main stadium lot.

Also, the club will make any severe weather announcements on its social media channels.

The match will be streamed live to the club’s website, Facebook, and YouTube. Grant Burkhardt will be the play-by-play announcer as CEFC starts its six-match live-streaming schedule.

Lastly, the club continues to accept donations for Moms2B, a Columbus-based organization the Eagles are proud to support. Moms2B aims to lessen the infant mortality rate in central Ohio by educating and providing resources for young and expectant mothers. Eagles fans are encouraged to bring baby diaper wipes, infant clothing, and food to the match so the club can donate it.
